I was also disappointed with the character development. Danny remained as the main character with many, many support and minor characters. It was hard to keep track of all the characters, and what I thought were going to be the main characters: Danny, Dane, and their friends turned out to be false. The author had too many characters and shuffled between many different points of view. But, there were a few things that the story seemed to lack. The story was also interesting and kept my attention. I picked up the book because the idea of a parallel worlds always interested me, and I think the author did a good job with it. Together, Danny and Dane, with their friends ,and new friends they meet along the way, they plot to overthrow the Dictator and help the people of Britannica. Needless to say, both are very confused by the other, seeing as they are physically identical in every way except for a mole one Dane's forehead. The two boys discover a gate between their two worlds after a freak storm.

The people of Britannica are oppressed and do not share the same freedoms that their sister country, Britain, has. Britannica is ruled by a Religious Dictator known as Papa Don. Dane is also a clever boy who lives in a country called Britannica that exists in a world similar to ours, yet different. Danny is a clever boy who lives in modern Britain with a pretty normal life. This book was about a great adventure that takes place in two similar worlds.
